ARTA Engineering Complex is an engineering service provider which provides design and molding services to customers in Iran. This company used to out source all scanning services, and has spent considerable resources. But lately, they terminated this by introducing Rexcan III into the working process and scan dozens of parts in-house every month, which greatly saved both time and money.
Besides, the quality of the scan data obtained with the Rexcan III noticeable surpasses previously out sourced ones, in terms of edge data sharpness, accuracy, and data completeness. Now ARTA Engineering Complex is very satisfied with the improved quality of their services and reduced investment.
Attach 5 ~ 6 reference targets on lateral sides of both front and rear parts of the fender
for data auto-alignment, and scan the front and the rear parts with Rexcan III separately.
2 data groups (front part and rear part) will be aligned automatically using reference
  targets in ezScan2006.
Make the scan data into a single triangulation mesh with ¡®Batch process¡¦¡¯
function, and export it to .STL format.
With Rexcan III, you can get data with high accuracy,
high resolution with low noise at a high speed, which is ensured by its H/W technique and the algorithm in ezScan, hence the high quality of the exported STL data, which plays the primary important part in fine reverse engineering process.
Load scan data (.STL format) into the reverse design software.
Define the plane and its axis for coordinating the reference axis with them.
Fit the point data to create surfaces
Trim those surfaces for obtaining the complete 3D surface.
Add specific features on the 3D model such as holes and patterns to generate the final surface.
Convert the surface which was generated in the previous step into a model for mold production.
The 3D model (data) result from above processes can be used for restoring worn molds, analyzing distortions, benchmarking, and RP modeling.
We would like to thank ARTA Engineering Complex (artarexcan@yahoo.com) for this application material they provided us.
